merry merry CHRISTmas!

Here's the lil' man all fancied out for our ward's Christmas party. We had to squeeze him into this outfit...he didn't seem too impressed, haha.

Lots of elves painting Sadie's doll house. It turned out so awesome! When Sadie unwrapped it, her eyes got all sparkly and she promptly opened the doll house doors and closed them with her head inside so she could take it all in up close and without distraction.

The amazing Canada blanket made by Wendy, Sally, & Melissa. We love it, thank you!!

Definitely the best present I got this year :)

So happy Grandma & Grandpa Lewis could join us again. We love you both so much!

Kaden sporting his woolly booger (that's what our fam calls warm hats) that Alethea picked up for him in Nepal.

Steph you are a natural...we need to make that countdown chain for you :)

Christmas morning in the Bates' home. Someday we might have a full-sized tree, haha. We had a nice relaxing morning with waffles and home-made raspberry syrup, yum!

After breakfast at our house we headed to Sara's to play.

More Nepalese presents from Alethea...snowpants for George and me. WooHoo, thanks Weep!

We've had a great holiday season here in Cedar City. Poor Alethea was quarantined from Sawyer for 5 days after she got back from Nepal because she was sick, but now she's getting in plenty of snuggle time. For Christmas dinner we made red and green honey lime enchiladas...delightful! It was pretty nice weather so we got out for a walk. We didn't have a 'white' Christmas after all, unless you count fog. We've had very unusual weather for this area. We were socked in for a week and received a lot of rain. Our mountain received 90" of snow this past storm, 20" of that was water!

What a special time of year to celebrate the birth of our Savior. It was especially neat this year as we held our precious baby boy to reflect on the birth of Christ. May we always remember God's love and his Gift to us, and may 2011 be a bright and happy year for each and everyone of you. Much love to all our family and dear friends!

Sawyer's Blessing

Today was a special day for our little family...George was able to give Sawyer a baby blessing this morning in church. Sawyer was wonderful and quiet as usual, and George gave him a great father's blessing. It makes me so happy to have such great boys in my life!

My two favorite boys - SO handsome!!

Families are Forever

Sara, thank you for the beautiful blanket you crocheted for Sawyer's special day! Thank you mom and dad for making the trip out again so you could be here, and for everyone else that joined us too :)

Splish Splash!

Sawyer's first bath given by dad at the hospital.

This boy LOVES water! He loved his first bath at the hospital, and his first bath at home, and pretty much all of them since then too. I think George's calm demeanor helps Sawyer stay calm. He loves getting his little head scrubbed and washed under the faucet. He goes completely limp and relaxed.

Loving the head scrub-down

Checking each other out

Gotta have one in the bathrobe :)

About a month ago we passed the healing phase of the umbilical cord and circ, so he's been officially allowed to have 'baths' since then.

All graduated to the big tub - here he is hanging out on his froggie pad - I like this much better than a baby bathtub. This was taken last night - he's grown so much!

Sawyer continues to be such a great little (BIG) baby...we have so much fun with him around. Since he was 6-weeks-old he's been wearing 3-6 month clothes already! He's a champ and rolled from his tummy to his back last Sunday. He did it three times so I don't think it was a fluke. We already know...he's super advanced :) Oh yes, last night was a Christmas miracle, he slept for 7+ hours!! It's amazing how that much sleep can make you feel SO good!

I've always been terrible at sending out Christmas cards, so I think it's pretty neat that they are trying to help out people like me :) What is everyone's trick in getting cards in the mail? When do you start writing and or designing them? I love receiving all of the cards and Christmas letters, and since I'm so terrible at keeping in touch, it's a great way to see and hear what my family and friend's have been up to over the last year.

Thank you Shutterfly for helping us celebrate this wonderful Christmas season by keeping in touch with our family and friends!

My sister Sara used shutterfly to print out all her digital photos to make photo books. They were good quality and had the best pricing. They do all sorts of things, like birth announcements (go here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/birth-announcements) and photo cards (go here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery). I'm excited to try them out this year for our fam's 2010 Christmas cards!

Disclaimer: Just because I'm doing this to get free cards doesn't mean I'll actually get them in the mail. So please don't be offended if you don't get one. I'm still learning how to get in a shower and maybe accomplish one other thing during the day with a baby to take care of now :)

6 weeks today!

Look how strong I am! And happy too :)

And mom might learn how to get some things done around the house with two hands free now!

A Shower for Sawyer

Well Sarita had a baby shower planned for Sawyer on Oct 27, but someone (Sawyer) decided to ruin her plans and come early (yay!) So we had it on November 18th instead. It was fabulous. So relaxed, wonderful company, lots of truffles, homemade bread, and pinwheels. And the star of the show could be there, Sawyer!

Look at this silly boy! This was taken during one of our many middle-of-the-night rendezvous...smiles make it all worth it!

Thank you grandma Sally for letting us have the party at your home!

Shena made it down :)

Sara made those cute platters that are holding the truffles. Upside-down sundae cups with a large plate on the bottom and a small one on top using glass glue. I must be stinky...no one sitting by me.

Chelsea, Sawyer's oldest cousin, got to come!

Check out his nursery with his name hung above the crib...it looks awesome, thanks Liza!

Sawyer loves the cute clothes, great books, and blankies he scored. What a lucky guy to have THREE showers. He is one LOVED little boy :) Thank you all SO much!

Happy Relatives

Once my family heard I went in to labor they started heading our way, from as far away as Alaska and California. I'm SO grateful for everyone's help. We were completely spoiled. We didn't have to make one meal, do a load of laundry, or clean the house...they really made our first couple of weeks home an easy transition. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Sadie lady - Sawyer is almost as big as you!

Ky guy

Auntie Sara & Soybean - just minutes old.

The Uncles.

Umpapa & Gramma
Look at all those smiles!

Grandma Wesie and Soybean :) - look how small he used to be!

It was especially WONDERFUL to have my mom out for a couple weeks right after Sawyer was born. Sometimes you just need your mom :) I was able to get some well needed rest, and she offered expert baby advice. I don't know what people do without amazing families. I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, Sawyer is one blessed baby to have so many aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and friends that love him!
