Here in southern Utah we had a gorgeous weekend with the sun warming us and not a cloud in the sky. So we gathered a group up and headed to Zion Nat'l. Park to hike Angel's Landing - 5 miles round trip, 1488' elevation gain. We didn't do the last 1/2 mile because it was snowy/icy and you had to grab onto chains most of the way...normally a 15 min. jaunt was taking people more than an hour. We still enjoyed a beautiful view and fresh air. Sadly, George couldn't join us because he was on call :(
Kyson's style was to sprint for a while and then collapse on the ground to catch his breath.
I was so impressed that both Kyson and Kaden walked/ran the whole way! On the way down I filled Kaden's pockets with goldfish and every time he felt like he needed someone to carry him, he would eat a gold fish and that would give him the energy he needed to keep going...such a trooper.

The angel herself, Sadie! She loves being outside.
Near the bottom, deer were right next to the trail.
Just outside the park there is a little cafe that serves bumbleberry pie. What are bumbleberries?? I'd never heard of it, but supposedly it's famous and delicious, so we stopped to try it. And just our luck, the baker was out of town so they weren't serving it. Has anyone ever tried it? That didn't damper our day of fun though. It was WONDERFUL to be outside and enjoy the beautiful creations that surround us.

The bubleberry is a special berry that is found only in zion. There is a cute poem in one of the gift shops by the resturant. Anyway it is delish...just raspberries, blackberries, and huckleberries mixed together I think. It is very good esp after hiking angels landing! I am so jealous of your day! I am glad the kids had a fun time! They are so cute. I swear Kyson has grown a foot! I am glad you have been able to enjoy some good weather! Thanks for sharing!
I have tried bumbleberry pie! We ate it when we went down to Zion one time. It's been a while but I do remember enjoying its yummy goodness!
fun! Maybe it's a good thing Georgie couldn't join you...since he seems to like to jump from cliffs. ;) You guys are always doing fun things. I want to be like you some day.
I wish I had your energy and ambition to get outside more often. You are always doing such fun things. Thanks so much for the car seat offer, we actually got one from another friend already. Gotta love hand me downs!
I have hiked Angels landing too. Those chains were pretty scary in the spring, I can't imagine going up there in the winter.
Hiking? So not fair. I want to go! It's still freezing here. At least the sun shines in the mountains. The valley is SMOTHERED in smog. Yuck.
okay, bumbleberry anything is the best thing in the world and you need to have it. smalls introduced me to it in cali, actually, where her family buys "bumbleberry blossoms" at costco. They are little pastry delights that are sort of like heaven. We finally found them at a costco here, so next time we get together, I think we'll need to add some bumbles to the sushi/shake tradish. mire?
Mmmmm veggie lasagna. I am so jealous! I am glad you guys did not waste it!
