Happy Birthday TO YOU!

Sawyer is adorable. He turned 2-years-old on October 25th. It's hard to believe that 2 years ago this handsome little boy turned George and me into parents. All day he ran around the house saying 'Happy Birthday TO YOU!' 'Happy Birthday TO YOU!'. We celebrated by going to the zoo, and then on his actual birthday papa got to stay home from work because of Hurricane Sandy. We woke up to balloons and presents and played the day away. His 'big' present was the skuut bike. It has no pedals, but he can walk and glide along with his feet and supposedly learns how to balance better than using training wheels on a pedal bike. Time will tell. He already has ridden it more than he ever rode his pedal bike though.

This was the first time Sawyer got the concept of wrapping paper, although he was still moderately controlled about tearing into his presents.

Honestly I think his favorite present was the scissors we got him. Sawyer, and children in general, really understand how to enjoy the little simple things in life - good example for us old adults that have a hard time being satisfied it seems.

Kyson, Kaden, and Sadie mailed Sawyer a beach ball for his birthday - genius idea! Did you know you can mail them just like that? You just write the address on the ball. So fun!

Mom thought this would be a fun surprise for Sawyer after his nap - I guess I was wrong.

We planned on having pizza and cupcakes at the beach, but due to Hurricane Sandy we had a picnic in our living room instead. Still very fun :)

Happy Birthday Sawyer!
(Excuse my freakishly large smile - this was about take 5 trying to get Sawyer to look towards the camera.)

Sawyer wanted to keep singing and blowing out candles. Adorable :)

Oh Mia My Miami

Look who we found in Miami!

Sawyer was SO excited!

These wigs were a special delivery from Grandma Lewis - it's part of their Halloween costumes :) Sawyer and Jack actually liked wearing them - unheard of for their ages!

Jack and Jojo relaxing at the park.

The little guys and I hit the road early on Wed morning for a quick road trip down and back to Miami (3.5 hours one-way). Sara and Joe (sis and bro-in-law) had a layover all day in Ft. Lauderdale/Miami so we went to hang out with them! It was so fun to see them. I had packed some breakfast and lunch picnic items so we spent most of the day relaxing, playing, and visiting at a park. It was awesome. Way too short of a visit, but worth the drive for sure! They are on their way to the Dominican Republic helping out with Viva Kids.

It was lots of driving in one day for two little people, but we jammed out to a lot of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star which kept Sawyer happy. I had a bag of toys within arms reach and just kept tossing them back to the boys. Sawyer didn't sleep at all on the drive down. I think he was excited to see his aunt and uncle :) Jack lost it about 20 minutes from the airport, but overall they both did fantastic. And yet again, so happy to road trip in a minivan since I could stop whenever I needed to feed Jack and let Sawyer out of his carseat and he could ransack it like a maniac and get some of his wiggles out.

We sure miss seeing our family every day like we were blessed to in Cedar. Hopefully it won't be too long until we get to see everyone again (this includes you KeyMaker)!

Cuteness

Living in Florida we never wear warm hats. I forgot how cute babies are in them. Oh my!

Zoo

A week ago Saturday we decided to hop in the new ride and take a trip to the Brevard Zoo to celebrate Sawyer's birthday as a family. It was a perfect day - low humidity and about 80F. The boys were both happy and Sawyer enjoyed running along the boardwalks finding the next exciting animal.

Our healthy, happy, blue-eyed babies. We are so blessed.

We got to pet the giraffes!

The spider monkeys were very fun to watch, especially when a squirrel got in to their cage.

 Such a good papa :)

It was a great day as a family.

Sawyer's Birthday Present

It's that time as parents where George and I get to tell Sawyer, "Don't say we never gave you anything." Because listen up, Sawyer. When you turned 2-years-old we gave you a mini-van. Yep. It's true. Your name is first on the title and registration. So there you go. This is the one and only vehicle we'll ever buy and insure for you. Live it up!

Haha it's a funny story - I went to register our new purchase and found out Florida has a dumb law that your car tags expire on your birth month. It's not pro-rated either so you pay for a full year and then have to renew it on your birthday no matter what month that falls on. Nice birthday present from the state of Florida. So since October is Sawyer's birth month - I registered the van in his name so we could get a full year out of the deal. Sawyer actually loves the van - makes a great playpen. Mom loves the van too - so practical and convenient! We've started a therapy group for George and he's coming around to the idea of our merry mo wagon. After all if Mama's happy, Papa's happy, right? :)

 Road Trip!
